1. How can I benefit from Renewable Energy Certificates?
The owner of an eligible SWH installation can choose to create and trade their Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) themselves or to assign their right to create RECs to a Registered Agent in return for some financial benefit.
The majority of owners choose to assign their right to create RECs to a Registered Agent, as the process is much simpler and it typically means they can access a benefit sooner. For details refer to How do I create RECs or get value from them?.
2. Is this a Government rebate program?
No.
The ORER will check your eligibility to create RECs for your SWH installation and will allow you to transfer them to others if you wish. For details refer to How do I create RECs or get value from them?.

3. Am I eligible for RECs for my new solar water heater or air-sourced heat pump?

6. How long do I have to create my RECs?
RECs must be created within 12 months of the solar water heater's installation date.
