Grants, Rebates and Government Assistance
Mandatory Renewable Energy Target Entitlements
The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) administers the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET). As such, the ORER does not provide Australian Government assistance in the form of grants or rebates to companies or individuals. However, renewable energy power stations, some solar water heater installations and small photovoltaic, wind or mini hydro-electric system installations may be eligible to create renewable energy certificates (RECs) under the MRET. RECs are a form of currency under the MRET which can be sold and transferred like a share for money.
If you or your company operates or owns a renewable energy power station you or your company may be eligible for accreditation of the power station under the MRET and be eligible to create and trade RECs. Trading RECs may provide an additional revenue stream for your power station.
If you have installed a solar water heater or a small generation unit, which could be a small photovoltaic (solar panel), wind or mini hydro-electric system, you may be eligible to create and trade RECs under the MRET. For more information on:
